6 Things to Do During Earth Hour

Earth Hour is just around the corner! Check out this list of things you can do alone, with your family, or with your friends to participate in this year’s Earth Hour. Earth Hour is on March 26 at 8:30 pm (your local time).

Earth Hour has been a part of the global tradition on the mission to reduce each individual’s carbon footprint on the planet. For its 13thyear now, Earth Hour will be taking place on Saturday, March 30, 2022, at 8:30pm local time. As we learn to speak up for the forests and its wildlife, the rivers and oceans, we remain to be steadfast in preserving the natural heritage of the planet.

Here are 6 things you can do in the dark during Earth Hour!

  1. Exercise

Earth Hour is about taking care of our planet. While we’re at it, why not take care of ourselves too and exercise! Work up a sweat or do yoga with a candlelight session. Before you know it, the lights are back in no time!

Choosing to exercise during Earth Hour is something that many people opt to do. If you don’t like to do it alone, you can always do it with friends!

2. Camping

Good old-fashioned camping doesn’t consume electricity. This is the perfect time to camp and not feel the direct effects of Earth Hour and still have fun! Be one with nature, Reconnect and rejuvenate yourself in the great outdoors. Recharge your spirit and bond with your family and friends!

3. Spend some alone time

Spending time with yourself doesn’t have to be extravagant. Do stuff that doesn’t require electricity to be able to do. Read books or do things that you prefer to do alone! Relinquish your social battery by spending time with yourself!

4. Stargazing

A significant reason why we have difficulty seeing the stars in the sky at night is because of the many refracted light from earth. The streetlights, building lights, and many others around the globe make it particularly difficult to see the sky. Now’s the time to seize the opportunity and stargaze because less electricity during Earth Hour means less refracted light at night!

5. Make Art

Do the things that make you feel better. Hone your talents. Play music, find other hobbies (or continue an existing one), or unleash your creative side by making art. If you haven’t done art before, this is a perfect time to test the waters.

6. Entice others to participate

If you see your neighbor not participating, entice them to do so! Earth hour is a global responsibility, and it’s important to keep others in check. Bond with your neighbors to compensate, have conversations and fun stories. It’s important to spread awareness not just on Earth Hour, but on taking care of the environment in general. Let’s make it a conscious habit to reduce our carbon footprint even when it’s not Earth Hour. Preserve the environment, reduce solid waste, and consume sustainably!
